Saarloos, who was up with the team earlier this season, went 1-4 with a robust 8.19 earned run average in 29 games.
To make room for Saarloos on the roster, the Reds optioned left-handed pitcher Phil Dumatrait to Louisville. In his time with Cincy, Dumatrait struggled in four starts, going 0-2 with a 14.18 ERA.
Cincinnati also announced that pitcher Victor Santos was outrighted to the minors after clearing waivers.
