06/17/2010 - Philadelphia, PA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Philadelphia Flyers forward Daniel Briere and his son were involved in a highway crash early Thursday morning.

"I was in a car accident in New York," Briere offered in a statement on the Flyers' website Thursday afternoon. "I was driving home to visit family and friends back in Canada when I got into an accident. My youngest son (Cameron) and I are both okay. We are doing fine."

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Briere's SUV collided with a tractor- trailer on Interstate 81 near Binghamton, New York shortly after midnight. The report, citing New York State Police, said a drowsy Briere drifted right while passing the tractor-trailer and collided with it.

The report said Briere's vehicle, a black Range Rover, hit the guard rail, while the tractor-trailer tipped over and blocked traffic for hours.

Briere was reportedly treated at a nearby hospital for an arm injury, while his son, Cameron, had neck pain.

A native of Gatineau, Quebec, Briere led the Flyers and the NHL in playoff scoring with 30 points (12G, 18A). He was fourth on the club with 53 points in 75 regular-season games.
